It is amazing to me that we live in a culture that shames upon natural beauty. So many people worship celebrities. But what I find more appalling than the idol worship of Hollywood is how much negative press is focused purely on their flaws and what they look like when they don’t have an entire crew to make them up in the morning. I stumbled across an article the other day about Jennifer Lawrence, who recently played Katniss Everdeen in the movie Hunger games. The short gossip article was titled, “Jennifer Lawrence Without Makeup”. The author of said article had the audacity to say that “some celebrities are downright unimpressive with out makeup.” To hear that some people actually have made a career out of picking apart others absolutely disgusts me. What are we teaching our daughters? If our goal is to rip apart the self esteem of all future generations, then we are doing just that. I’m quite heated at the moment, so I’ll let this topic be for now.
